In Memory of Michael A. Albov

Michael A. Albov

Michael Albov was an honored and dedicated attorney with the Monterey law firm Hudson Martin Ferrante Street Witten & June PC. But he was just as respected and admired for his work outside his profession.

Albov had a distinguished career of almost 40 years with Hudson Martin Ferrante, which he joined in 1977 shortly after graduating from law school at the University of California at Davis.

A Monterey Peninsula native, Albov was very active with a number of charitable causes. He was a Past President for Legal Services for Seniors and the Monterey History and Art Association, was Board Member Emeritus for Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula and on the board of The Kinship Center.

Twice he was named Volunteer of the Year, once by the Volunteer Center of the United Way of Monterey County, and another by Meals on Wheels of the Monterey Peninsula.

In addition to his charitable endeavors, Albov was also an accomplished fine art and entertainment photographer and was President and CEO for 20 years of Flaherty's Seafood Grill and Oyster Bar, a popular restaurant in Carmel.

Albov was a member of the California State Bar, Carmel Chamber of Commerce and the Monterey Chamber of Commerce. He also had a bachelor's degree in history from the University of California Santa Cruz, from which he graduated in 1971.

In his distinguished four-decade career at Hudson Martin Ferrante, Albov emphasized negotiated solutions to complex problems, making many appearances before local, state and national legislative bodies and lecturing in the area of dealing effectively with local government.

A year before he joined the firm, Albov was appointed by Gov. Jerry Brown, in his first term as governor, to the Patients' Rights Counsel for the state of California to represent interests and rights of persons in state hospitals.

His practice emphasized commercial law, real estate, commercial leasing, estate planning, land use and zoning regulations.

He leaves behind his loving family, wife Elizabeth and daughter Sophia, as well as many colleagues, friends and admirers.
